- Undertake risk assessments including fire and health and safety, ensuring the fee earning target is met.
- Undertaking environmental audits against recognised standards.
- Undertake various fire, environmental, health and safety assignments within your competency.
- Deliver client reports within the agreed SLA, in accordance with a forensic and pragmatic approach to ensure the Ark ‘Gold Standard’ is achieved.
- Design health and safety site management systems where required, specific to client requirements.
- Undertake onsite briefings and advise on risk management improvements.
- Work collaboratively with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
- Work with other consultants on learning opportunities to ensure we are constantly sharing knowledge across the team.
- Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of controlling risks, compliances etc in relation to our online management system QUOODA®
- Remain up to date with the Technical and regulatory requirements impacting our clients.

Kent is the one of the largest local authorities in the UK, with a circa 1.7m population, 12 districts and boroughs, a co-terminus NHS Integrated Care Board, and vibrant townships and communities. With a long and interesting history, and being the garden of England, it also the gateway to Europe and in turn its gateway to the UK. It has two major universities and a medical school, and seven NHS Trusts operating in the county. In Kent size matters and working here gives a Consultant in Public Health the biggest possible canvas to work on.
Kent is at a very exciting juncture in its public health journey, having just signed off the delivery plan of its Kent and Medway Integrated Care Strategy which is the blueprint agreed at the most senior leadership levels to improve health and wellbeing, and reduce health inequalities.
None of this is possible without strong data analytics, useable intelligence, strong evidence, and pragmatic research and innovation.
Kent is looking to appoint an innovative and forward-thinking Consultant in Public Health to join its highly regarded and well-resourced Public Health Division and help to drive its exciting agenda forward.
The council has a highly experienced team working with its Director of Public Health, including a Deputy director as well as six additional Public Health consultants all working to achieve the aspirations of its members for improving the health and wellbeing of the Kent population.
Kent Public Health is aiming to become a Centre of Excellence, undertaking a range of innovative activities in research, innovation and improvement, advanced analytics (using integrated data and predictive modelling) and offering increased number of education and training placements for multiple professional groups such as Public Health Speciality Registrars, junior doctors and university students. Kent enjoys national recognition for several programmes including Public Health research linked with Europe. You will be responsible for the line management of public health specialists as well as a dedicated budget for this area of the service. You will lead on the education and training function which includes responsibility for maintaining and improving its department's specialist training location for speciality registrars and other professional groups.
As well as developing and utilising information and intelligence systems to underpin public health action across disciplines and organisations, leading collation, and interpretation of relevant data.
The public health function is well integrated into the council, supports the Kent and Medway Integrated Care System and has an overall Public Health budget of circa £92 million with a major focus on reducing health inequalities. br> You will need inclusion in the GMC Specialist Register/GDC Specialist List/UK Public Health Register (UKPHR) for Public Health Specialists (with a license to practice) or be within 6 months of CCT at the date of interview.

About the Role
Reporting into a Team Leader (each team is circa 5-7) and up to the Director of Professional Services, you will be joining a market leading team of professionals to undertake risk assessments, environmental audits and advise on fire, environmental, health and safety matters at mainly low-medium sized buildings, to our established portfolio of clients across a variety of segments, including, residential, commercial and retail.
Responsibilities:
- Undertake risk assessments including fire and health and safety, ensuring the fee earning target is met.
- Undertaking environmental audits against recognised standards.
- Undertake various fire, environmental, health and safety assignments within your competency.
- Deliver client reports within the agreed SLA, in accordance with a forensic and pragmatic approach to ensure the Ark ‘Gold Standard’ is achieved.
- Design health and safety site management systems where required, specific to client requirements.
- Undertake onsite briefings and advise on risk management improvements.
- Work collaboratively with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
- Work with other consultants on learning opportunities to ensure we are constantly sharing knowledge across the team.
- Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of controlling risks, compliances etc in relation to our online management system QUOODA®
- Remain up to date with the Technical and regulatory requirements impacting our clients.
- The employee shall keep up with CPD in their own time as well as attend briefings and participate in CPD activities as directed by the Professional Services Director.
- The employee to make every effort to attend training and study plans.
- The employee shall carry out any reasonable request made by the line manager.
Practical Requirements:
The consultant has a full driving license and ability to drive/ travel by public transport to assignments.
Ability to facilitate hybrid working with home office that is suitable for connectivity to the office and clients, a safe and productive place to work conducive for delivering daily duties.
