The purpose of this role is to work as a support worker as part of the Meeting Your Needs Oldham outreach service. In collaboration with specialist organisations Early Break and The Proud Trust, we provide an integrated substance misuse and sexual health service in Oldham, known as MYNO. Our services are available to young people aged 13-19, adults with special educational needs, and looked after children up to the age of 25.

As part of our work, we support the distribution of condoms in community settings across ORBISH (Oldham, Rochdale, and Bury Integrated Sexual Health), with a primary focus on Oldham. We aim to provide non-clinical support to young people in various settings, such as schools, colleges, and youth centre’s. Our goal is to promote and provide accessible services for young people in Oldham who require sexual health support.

The Support worker will provide support at the Integrated Contraception and Sexual Health Service Hub Oldham, and some travel to community locations may be required, therefor having a driving licence and a car is essential for this role.  The service runs Monday to Saturday, operating 9-5pm with a late night across each hub. This is a part-time (24 hours per week).

Main Responsibility

You will be responsible for;

  • Create an empowering, non-judgmental, positive and welcoming atmosphere for young people,  emphasising self-determination and assisting young people to make plans and decisions and to accept responsibility.
  • Empower and encourage all young people to access both young people’s support programmes and sexual health services as a whole, with particular emphasis on ‘at risk’ groups as defined by the organisation.
  • Assist in the development, delivery and evaluation of training programmes and support other professionals involved with young people to help develop their skills, knowledge and confidence in the effective delivery of Sex and Relationships Education 
  • Undertake initial consultations with clients including a social and lifestyle history, using the Fraser guidelines and our programme templates: record all interventions in a timely and accurate manner 
  • Undertake brief interventions during client consultations, promoting a holistic approach that sees the individual’s health and wellbeing, emotional, physical, sexual, mental and social needs are met in accordance with the IMB Framework 
  • Work within ORBISH internal pathways to refer clients to the appropriate professional team member or external service
  • Where appropriate, work within Multi Agency Teams to assist social workers and the Police to fulfil their statutory obligations to children in need of help or protection 
  • Monitor and evaluate work as required, keeping secure written and statistical records of work undertaken and providing reports as required

Main Responsibility

An Health Care Assistant is a core member of the team delivering personal care to patients and supporting registered practitioners to deliver high quality, compassionate care. 

You will carry out a range of non-clinical healthcare tasks, under the direct supervision of the registered healthcare practitioner. Your role is to provide compassionate care, to agreed quality standards and in accordance with Trust values. 

There will be opportunities to develop your knowledge and skills, specific to your individual needs. Training will be provided to ensure you have the required core skills and skills set specific to your area of work. You will also be supported to obtain your care certificate if you do not have this qualification.


The Ideal Candidate

•     Able to demonstrate literacy and numeracy skills at interview assessment.

•     Prior experience of providing care in a healthcare or social setting

•     Evidence of ability to work as a member of a team

•     Experience of time management and prioritising work.

•     Understands and is committed to a caring approach to patients and relatives

•     Effective and appropriate communication skills both written and verbal

•     Able to complete appropriate documentation accurately

•     Demonstrate an awareness of healthcare work, policies and procedures

•     Committed to providing high quality patient care

•     IT skills, competent in Microsoft Office

•     Keyboard skills

•     Ability and willingness to undertake appropriate training within given time frames

•     Flexible and adaptable to change, able to work a range of shifts and moving across wards/units dependent on clinical needs

•     Able to demonstrate calm, caring patient manner and attitude

•     Enthusiasm and commitment to working within the healthcare setting

•     Willing to work in other areas of the Trust or Trust-wide as and when required to do so.

•     Able to meet the physical and developmental demands of the role; The role is physically demanding and can include standing for prolonged periods, moving and handling patients and equipment and other healthcare related tasks.

Positions Available: Full-time or Part-time

A great opportunity has arisen to join us as a Healthcare Assistant on our Sulis Ward, St Martins Hospital, Bath.

You will join a welcoming multidisciplinary team on our John Stacey ward, where our services run 7 days per week. We have the opportunity to offer full time and part time positions to help with the flexibility of hours to suit you!

We provide general medical and stroke rehabilitation for those stepping down form the acute trusts; as well as supporting our primary care colleagues with admission avoidance and stepping up from the community.

Main Responsibility

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide compassionate, patient-centred care in line with individual care plans.

  • Support daily care and treatment under the guidance of a registered practitioner.

  • Encourage patient and carer involvement in decision-making.

  • Promote patient independence and dignity at all times.

  • Work collaboratively within a multi-professional team.

  • Ensure clear, respectful communication, including support for language or hearing barriers.

  • Maintain accurate documentation of patient needs and preferences.

  • Practice effective infection control and contribute to a safe care environment.

  • Assist in clinics (e.g. dressing, fracture) and carry out delegated tasks confidently.

  • Support junior staff and seek guidance from registered staff when needed.

  • Perform select administrative duties as required.

  • Obtain appropriate consent and provide or request a chaperone when needed.

  • Uphold policies, procedures, and professional standards at all times.
