Introducing the Talent team at Trainline

At Trainline, our Talent team is central to scaling one of Europe’s most exciting travel tech businesses. We’re a collaborative, high-performing group that believes recruitment is a strategic craft, not just a process. Whether it’s partnering with stakeholders to define hiring needs, enhancing candidate experience, or testing the latest in AI hiring tools, we approach talent acquisition with creativity, care and a data-first mindset.

We are looking for an ambitious and strategically minded Senior TA Manager – Tech & Productto lead full-cycle recruitment for our Product and Technology teams. You will play a key role in shaping hiring strategies, elevating the candidate experience, and supporting high-impact hiring needs during a pivotal phase. You’ll partner closely with hiring leaders across Product and Tech to attract exceptional talent and deliver recruiting excellence. This is a player-coach type role where you’ll lead and develop a small team but also be getting “hands on” with hiring.

As a Senior TA Manager at Trainline you will.

  • Be accountable for hiring world-class talent into our Tech, Product & Data teams — both hands-on for critical roles and through leading and developing your team of 2.

  • Partner with Tech, Product & Data leadership to align short, mid and long-term workforce needs with scalable hiring strategies, working closely with People & Finance to plan effectively.

  • Design and deliver best-in-class attraction, selection and assessment processes, raising hiring standards through structured, data-led practices.

  • Lead the adoption of AI and recruitment technology, identifying opportunities for innovation that optimise sourcing, assessment and funnel performance.

  • Use recruitment data and market insights to drive process improvements, build business cases, and influence senior leaders on hiring priorities.

  • Deliver cross-functional hiring projects that improve efficiency, quality and diversity outcomes, balancing immediate delivery with longer-term impact.

  • Own the candidate experience strategy for Product & Tech, embedding fairness, inclusivity, and our DEI commitments at every stage.

  • Lead Trainline’s employer brand for Product & Tech, building visibility in the talent market and ensuring a consistent EVP in partnership with Marketing, Comms and wider TA.

We'd love to hear from you if you.

  • Have a background in end-to-end recruitment across Product, Tech, or Data roles within a fast-paced Tech business. It is essential that you have gained this experience working in-house for a Tech company of a similar scale (we are c.1000 people).

  • Have experience leading and developing a TA team, coaching recruiters to improve delivery, stakeholder management and process expertise.

  • Enjoy operating as a player-coach — balancing hands-on delivery of hiring with developing and supporting your team

  • Have a track record of strategic partnership with senior stakeholders — able to influence, challenge and shape workforce plans and hiring decisions.

  • Have strong project management skills, with examples of designing and delivering hiring initiatives that improved efficiency, quality, or diversity outcomes.

  • Have hands-on expertise in attraction, selection and assessment design, including structured interviews and inclusive hiring practices.

  • Bring demonstrated ability to leverage AI and recruitment technology to optimise sourcing, funnel performance and candidate experience. Bonus points if you’ve used Ashby and Metaview before (or similar).

  • Can show how you use recruitment data and market insights to influence leaders, secure business case sign-off, and drive continuous process improvement.

  • Have experience shaping and delivering candidate experience strategies that embed fairness, inclusivity and consistency across all stages.

  • Bring strong knowledge of employer branding and talent marketing, with experience leading campaigns, events, or partnerships that strengthened a company’s presence in tech/product markets.

  • Have a passion for DEI in hiring, with a track record of embedding inclusive practices in sourcing, interviewing, and selection.

  • Bring high resilience and adaptability, thriving in a complex, high-growth environment while balancing immediate delivery with longer-term initiatives.

The role combines hands-on recruitment with strategic planning and leadership, supporting the firm’s ambitious five-year growth strategy.

You’ll manage two direct reports and work closely with senior stakeholders across the business to ensure the firm attracts, retains, and develops top talent at all levels-from graduate trainees to senior professionals.

The three key areas include; lateral recruitment management, overseeing the early careers function, and people development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Set strategic direction for early careers recruitment and development, supporting the delivery of market-leading trainee pathways and exam support.
  • Oversee junior recruitment and development through coaching and support of the Talent Acquisition Assistant.
  • Lead key programmes including employee recognition schemes and technical training courses for junior professionals.

  • Act as a trusted advisor to stakeholders, providing market insights and strategic recommendations.
  • Support firm-wide learning and development programmes, liaising with providers and managing internal communications.

  • Represent the firm on industry-wide apprenticeship initiatives, contributing to the development of new career pathways.
  • Enhance the firm’s careers page and social media presence to strengthen its employer brand.
  • Support the rollout of a new expectations framework across all employee populations.

The client is looking for an experienced recruitment and development professional with a passion for building high-performing teams and delivering strategic talent initiatives. You thrive in fast-paced environments and enjoy working collaboratively to drive change.

You’ll bring:

  • A strong track record in lateral and early careers recruitment within HR or People & Culture teams.
  • Proven experience managing and mentoring teams.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills.
  • Commercial awareness, ideally within the legal or professional services sector.
  • Creativity and strategic thinking in designing new processes and initiatives.
  • Experience with ATS and LMS systems.
  • CIPD qualification (preferred).

Why Join?

This is a rare opportunity to shape the future of talent in a firm that values innovation, inclusion, and excellence. You’ll be part of a forward-thinking People & Culture team that plays a central role in delivering strategic change and supporting career development across the business.
