The Vice President of Business Strategy is a leadership role responsible for developing and implementing strategic plans that drive commercial success for our clients' brands. This individual will play a pivotal role in guiding clients through all phases of product lifecycle, from pre-launch through maturity, leveraging deep healthcare marketing expertise and industry knowledge to deliver exceptional client outcomes.
This is a hybrid role, based in any of our US offices—including New York City, Boston, Chicago, Carmel, or San Francisco—or remotely within the US, depending on team and business needs.
What you’ll do:
Strategic Leadership
Serve as the strategic lead on multiple accounts (large and small) and new business opportunities, developing comprehensive marketing and communication strategies that align with client objectives
Understand disease/market landscapes, competitive environments, and target audience insights, translating these into actionable recommendations for brand strategy
Lead the development of go-to-market strategies, launch planning, and lifecycle management initiatives to maximize product commercial potential
Provide strategic guidance on market development, customer needs assessment, patient segmentation, competitive positioning, and market prioritization
Facilitate strategic planning workshops with clients to define strategy, positioning, messaging, and tactical approaches, to name a few
Client Partnership
Build and maintain strong client relationships at senior levels, serving as a trusted strategic advisor on commercial and marketing challenges
Showcase strategic value through well-crafted presentations and recommendations that demonstrate deep understanding of client business objectives
Lead client workshops and strategic planning sessions to align on key priorities and approaches
Anticipate client needs and proactively identify opportunities for growth and optimization
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Develop strong partnerships with internal account, creative, medical, and other functional teams to ensure cohesive and effective execution of strategic plans
Collaborate with medical strategy teams to ensure scientific accuracy and credibility in all strategic recommendations
Work closely with analytics teams to leverage data-driven insights that inform strategic decisions
Partner with digital and omnichannel experts to develop integrated marketing strategies across touchpoints
Business Development
Contribute significantly to new business development efforts, including pitches, proposals, and RFP responses
Conduct healthcare provider interviews and competitive analysis to inform new business approaches
Present at new business pitches with confidence and executive presence
Lead, mentor, and develop a team of strategic planners, fostering a culture of excellence, innovation, and continuous learning
Manage workload and resource allocation across multiple client engagements and projects
Provide coaching and guidance to team members on complex strategic problems and client challenges
Foster collaboration across agency departments to deliver integrated solutions

What you should have:
Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree (MBA, MPH, etc.) preferred, with 12–15+ years in healthcare/pharma strategy, marketing, or consulting.
Proven success in shaping brand strategies across oncology therapeutic areas and product lifecycles, with strong understanding of medical/scientific value drivers.
Deep knowledge of healthcare ecosystems, including regulatory dynamics, key stakeholders, and scientific influencers.
Skilled in customer insight generation, market analysis, and strategic planning tools to inform evidence-based decisions.
Entrepreneurial and adaptable, with a track record of cross-functional collaboration across medical, commercial, and scientific teams.
Pay Range: $180,000.00-$200,000.00

How will your role help us transform hope into reality?
At Blueprint Medicines, we are driven by purpose and precision. As a Medical Science Liaison (MSL), you will serve as a trusted scientific expert, facilitating high-quality medical engagement and education on our innovative therapies. You will cultivate strong relationships with healthcare professionals (HCPs) and key opinion leaders (KOLs) to support our mission of delivering transformative therapies to patients with genomically defined diseases.
In addition to UK responsibilities, you will strategically support MSL work across the Nordic countries, requiring a strong grasp of cross-border collaboration and cultural fluency. Your ability to navigate a complex healthcare environment and integrate learnings across geographies will be key.
What will you do?
- Be Blueprint Medicines’ scientific ambassador in the UK and Nordics. Short term focus is England, Wales and Denmark. Mid- term focus will be additional countries including Scotland, Republic of Ireland and Sweden.
- Provide support to Blueprint’s first commercialized asset known as Ayvakyt. This will involve proactive identification, engagement, and maintainenance of scientific exchange with KOLs and healthcare professionals in Systemic Mastocytosis, this includes HCPs across allergology, immunology, hematology, oncology, and rare diseases.
- Provide accurate, balanced, and timely scientific and clinical support aligned with company strategy across the HCPs within the designated country remit.
- Gather insights from field interactions to inform internal strategies and plans.
- Deliver impactful, evidence-based presentations to both external and internal stakeholders.
- Support local execution of company-sponsored studies and investigator-initiated trials (IITs).
- Contribute to the planning and execution of regional and international scientific meetings, advisory boards, and symposia.
- Maintain a robust understanding of disease area landscape and healthcare systems in the UK and Nordics.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Medical Affairs, Clinical Development, Regulatory, and Commercial teams.
- Champion compliance, ethical behavior, and scientific integrity in all activities.
- Uphold and model Blueprint Medicines’ five core organizational competencies.
What minimum qualifications do we require?
- Advanced Clinical/Scientific degree (PhD, MD, PharmD, MSc)
- Rare disease or hematology or Oncology launch experience
- A deep knowledge of allergology/immunology would also be an advantage.
- Prior experience in working in Biotech or Biopharm industries is an advantage
- 3+ years’ experience as an MSL or similar field-based medical role in the biopharma industry
- Fluency in English (written and spoken); knowledge of a Nordic language is a plus
- Strong presentation and communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex scientific data
- Willingness to travel extensively within the UK and to the Nordics
- Candidate must reside within the UK and be in close proximity to a major airport

The OpportunityThis is an exciting opportunity for an experienced medical affairs leader to shape the future of psychiatry at a global level. As Director of Global Medical Affairs, Neuropsychiatry, you will play a pivotal role in driving the medical and scientific strategy for psychiatry, working in close partnership with the Therapeutic Area (TA) lead and the wider GMA Neuropsychiatry team. You’ll lead the development and execution of strategic plans to support the successful launch and lifecycle management of key assets, while building strong collaborations with external experts, scientific bodies, and patient representatives. This role offers the chance to provide influential medical guidance across early and late-stage development, as well as commercialised products, ensuring robust scientific leadership across clinical research, medical launch preparation, and health economics strategy.
Location:
Ideally, the successful candidate would be based within a commutable distance from either our Harlow or Ridings Points sites. However, we'd be open to receiving applications from those based anywhere across The UK, subject to your openness to national/international travel c.10%-20% of your working hours
How You’ll Spend Your DayKey Responsibilities
- Medical and scientific leadership and support to current and future commercialized medicines, and issues management for current medicines within psychiatry
- Responsible for the development and execution of the Global Medical Affairs plan for the relevant asset(s). These will include, amongst others, responsibilities such as Phase IV trial activities (such as protocol development, study execution, medical governance and interpretation of results); development of Key Opinion Leader (External Experts) strategy and plan; scientific congress activities (such as medical symposium, presentation of abstracts and or posters); input to publication strategy and review of Investigator Sponsored Studies/Collaborative Research/GHEVO studies.
- In partnership with the TA lead and team provides coordination and execution of overall medical strategy for Teva’s assets in psychiatry in close collaboration with Regional Medical Affairs teams, from initiation of regional pre-launch activities to several years post-launch (as relevant)
- Again, alongside the TA lead contributes to and implements the world-wide medical psychiatry strategy
- Interfaces effectively with other Global Medical Affairs functions such as Scientific Communications and Global Health Economics, Value and Outcomes, and other departments, including Commercial, Clinical Development, Regulatory Affairs and Pharmacovigilance
- Provides counsel to clinical development with input on early and late-stage development plans, target product profile, and lifecycle management
- Collaborates with Global Scientific Communications in support of knowledge generation for the psychiatry franchise, including strategy development and review of manuscripts, abstracts and posters as part of the publication team
- Develops and maintains professional relationships with external experts and professional associations including therapeutic guideline development groups. Responsible for the External Expert interface for the respective psychiatry medicines
Do you have.
- Preferably, a life sciences degree / MD / MPharm, PhD and at least five years pharmaceutical industry experience.
- Experience in designing and executing PIV studies- this would be beneficial
- Pharmaceutical industry experience in global medical affairs, ideally in psychiatry or neuroscience.
- Experience in successfully developing strategy and executing medical plans, and in building professional external expert networks.
- A broad knowledge of drug development, clinical trial design, regulatory requirements, business development and life cycle management.
