Hostel Night & Weekend StaffLocations: Agnew House Family Centre, St Vincent Road, Gosport (56 rooms) Barclay House, Trinity Green, Gosport (28 rooms)Bury Road, Gosport (6 rooms) - from summer 2025Salary: Grade 4 £25,584 - £27,269Working a shift on a rota covering the following days & hours:Monday to Sunday 4.45pm to Midnight - Barclay House Monday to Sunday 4.45pm to Midnight - Bury Road - from summer 2025Monday to Friday 4.45pm to 9.15am -Agnew House Family Centre and All weekendGosport Borough Council (GBC) Property and Housing Services Gosport borough is on the beautiful south coast, boasting a magnificent heritage thanks to centuries of links with the Royal Navy. The service manages a varied Commercial property portfolio dealing with licences, concessions and a mobile home park. Who are we looking for?We are looking for someone who is looking for a challenging and rewarding role where you are able to support people every day and provide a safe environment. You would be working as part of a night team to provide informal support to residents and ensuring the security of the buildings by controlling access and monitoring CCTV. Your positive attitude towards your work and others will help to contribute to a great working environment. You will have a calm and personable manner and be able to handle potentially difficult situations. You will be a strong communicator and confident as you will work on your own with residents. What is the role? Provide informal support to residents and be a listening earSafeguard the security of the hostels by controlling access into the buildings.Monitor the service that is covered by CCTV and respond to any incidents that may arise and report all breachesManage residents and visitors coming into and remaining in the building and any associated safety issues. Ensure visitors leave at the end of the visiting time.Deal with any incidents that may arise and contact external services when necessary.Respond to incoming calls from residents / visitors / professional agencies.Carry out regular visual checks / fire checks on the interior and exterior of the buildings and respond/report appropriately and note defects and your actions during the handover with day staff. Respond to health & safety / fire alarm emergenciesEnsure communal areas are clean and tidy and hazard free and respond appropriately.Provide detailed handovers to day staffProvide first aid assistance - full training providedPerform any other checks or tasks as directed by staff.Support your colleaguesWho is the person?We are looking for somebody who:Is confident working on their ownIs confident and who is a strong verbal and written communicator and can use knowledge gained to fully understand customers circumstances.Has an understanding of homelessness issuesHas a positive attitude towards your workHave a personable manner and be able to handle difficult and emotional situationsHas a passion for working in a customer facing roleHas clear verbal and written EnglishHas a good level of IT skills including the use of Microsoft Office applications Is proactive & highly motivated with the ability to work in silo and as a team, act quickly, accurately and consistently when under pressureHas good interpersonal and team working skills and has experience of working in a front line serviceIs a creative thinker, able to suggest innovate solutions to problems Is committed to equal opportunities Has working experience of General Data Protection Regulations.Special Conditions:The post holder will be required to hold a current basic DBS certificate.You will be required to work at all hostels covering shifts within the team due to absences & at short noticeYou will need a driving licence and access to a vehicleYou will be required to work bank and statutory holidays.
