About the roleWe are seeking an enthusiastic and innovative Teaching Fellow in Engineering Education to join our department. This fixed-term position focusses on delivering high-quality, research-informed teaching and contributing to the advancement of engineering education within our undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate taught (PgT) programmes.
Teaching and Curriculum Development:
Design, deliver and assess engaging content via lectures, workshops and project-based learning activities, ensuring alignment with industry practices, research and innovative education with responsibilities in the following modules:
- Design (Years 1): support module leads in delivering CAD, Arduino programming and prototyping makerspace workshops, and supporting coursework marking
- Energy & Thermofluids (Year 1): support lab activities and marking in fluid dynamics and soldering for PCBs
- Flight Design (Year 4): co-lead the delivery and assessment of the new flight & aerodynamic design, including the development of its practical activities for the manufacturing of fixed-wing drones, and supporting coursework marking
- Engineering Group Project (Year 4): support the delivery and assessment of the capstone group projects, including running cohort level workshops on sustainability, systems thinking and project management, and supporting marking of individual reports
Educational Development:
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of student experience through evidence-based teaching practice and innovation
- Take part in activities to capture student voice and to work with student representatives on improvement activities
Outreach and Community Engagement:
- Represent the department at public events, such as open days, and contribute to widening participation efforts
Collaborative and Administrative Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with academic, technical and professional service staff to ensure effective module delivery
- Support administrative processes related to teaching and assessment
