Supply Chain Analyst – Matlock – £28,000 - £30,000

This role comes with a clear development path into a senior supply chain role and will suit someone who is an ambitious detail-oriented individual with strong analytical skills.

Key Responsibilities:

• Introduce and demonstrate new analytics tools to the business
• Act as the key point of contact for ad-hoc data analysis and insights within the supply chain team
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives through effective data use and process optimisation
• Support the Supply Chain Team and wider business with data handling and analysis
• Lead projects to automate repetitive data entry processes
• Redesign or eliminate inefficient processes across the internal supply chain and wider business
• Take ownership of KPI production for the supply chain team
• Lead the customer contract review process across the business
• Ensure all internal teams are aligned to deliver against customer specifications as orders are placed

Job Description:

You'll serve as a key liaison and engaging daily with both internal teams and external customers performing supply chain and logistics functions ensuring smooth coordination and timely order processing in line with programme KPIs. You'll also be responsible for production planning, inventory control, outsourcing, vendor selection and distribution.

Key Responsibilities:

-Programme Support: Responsible for the operations and administrative assistance necessary for order fulfilment, including order entry, management and dispatch across all programmes delivered via the Warrington site.

-Customer Interaction: Act as the first point of contact for internal and external stakeholders, fostering strong relationships and ensuring customer needs are met efficiently.

-Order Management: Monitor and process incoming orders promptly to uphold performance standards and achieve defined KPIs. Coordinate inbound and outbound logistical operations, including inventory management, warehousing and transportation to ensure sufficient supply of goods and products.

-Issue Escalation: Report directly to the Warrington Operations Manager, escalating any issues that may affect programme delivery or operational continuity.

-Team Collaboration: Work closely with the wider supply support team to ensure full coverage and maintain service levels during periods of absence or peak demand. Create integrated -processes among internal functions (eg, operations and logistics) and outside suppliers.
Data management: Recording and reporting across different projects, requiring a tailored approach to each project delivery. Administer an effective system that meets the organization's inventory control needs through efficient transportation of raw materials, component parts and/or finished goods. Control the commercial impact of the complete range of activities from receiving, locating and dispatching, sourcing, purchasing and optimizing inventory levels.

Role Overview

The Supply Chain Manager role is focused specifically on all aspects of product supply and supplier development- this includes ownership of the Supplier Management Process, the overall SLS Brand Strategy and Product Range Development. The Supply Chain Manager will be responsible for developing and executing sourcing strategies to ensure the timely and cost-effective acquisition of scientific products, equipment, and services. This role involves supplier evaluation, contract negotiation, compliance management, and collaboration with internal stakeholders to meet operational and strategic goals.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Procurement

• Develop and implement procurement strategies aligned with business objectives.
• Lead and coordinate all Supplier Management and Product Range Development activity jointly with Business Managers, General Manager Sales Development and Technical Sales Specialists, effectively present range developments (new products) to the Sales Team.
• Ensure validation and financial sign off for all range development involving monetary investment (stock etc.).
• Conduct market research to identify cost-saving opportunities and supplier innovations.
• Attend exhibitions and events as required to ensure continuity to market of new products and trends.

Supplier Management

• Source, evaluate, and onboard suppliers of scientific equipment, chemicals and consumables.
• Negotiate contracts and maintain supplier relationships to ensure quality and reliability.
• Monitor supplier performance and compliance with ISO and MHRA standards.
• Define and implement a robust supplier management process to ensure the best performance of suppliers. (Driving improved service levels AND cost price reductions).
• Ensure growth of the SLS Supplier Rebate Scheme to generate targeted year-on-year increases in the levels of rebate payable.
• In conjunction with the marketing group, define, implement and manage an effective “Own-Brand” Strategy. Ownership of the SLS Brand Strategy includes coordinating and delivering regular updates to the Business. (In collaboration with the Business Managers, General Manager Sales Development and Technical Sales Specialists).
• Work closely with the Inventory Manager and team to ensure Supplier compliance.

Sustainability

• Work closely with the Sustainability Manager to ensure suppliers meet sustainability targets and measurements across governance and compliance, social responsibility, and environmental sustainability.
• This includes:
• Supporting supplier alignment with ESG policies and ethical standards.
• Monitoring and reporting on supplier performance against environmental KPIs.
• Ensuring suppliers uphold fair labour practices and community engagement.
• Facilitating audits, certifications, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Promoting transparency and traceability throughout the supply chain.

Contract & Compliance

• Incorporate our supplier management activity into the CRM/SRM System for effective sharing of Supply-End information around the business.
• Manage tendering processes and contract preparation.
• Ensure procurement activities comply with UK/EU regulations and ethical standards.
• Maintain accurate procurement documentation for audits and reporting.
• Promote continuous improvement and professional development within the team.

Reporting & Analysis

• Analyse procurement data to identify trends and improve performance.
• Report on savings, supplier performance, and procurement KPIs.
• Collaborate with finance to manage budgets and cost controls.
