About the role
We are currently looking for a Scientific Officer within the Cancer Origins Group. The Cancer Origins group studies how environmental exposures alter selection pressures in the lung to drive cancer using in vivo models, functional assays and single cell analysis. The aim of this post is to to carry out research, develop projects and support the on-going research of the group. To support the efficient and effective day-to-day running and organisation of the laboratory, to ensure maintenance of equipment and supplies.
About you
You should have a BSc in biological sciences or related subject or equivalent relevant experience. Experience in a research laboratory setting and in cancer biology is essential. Previous experience with in vivo models along with experience with cell culture is desirable but not essential.

We are seeking an enthusiastic, ambitious, clinical researcher with expertise in obstetrics/obstetric medicine to play a senior role in delivering this highly clinically important research programme. The role will give you wide exposure to different research methodologies, allowing you develop a critical understanding of research in this area and will provide a good basis for a future research career. There is a possibility that for a suitable candidate some of the work could contribute towards a higher degree.
The role requires a minimum of 50% FTE and will be flexible around your clinical commitments. The research group are office-based Tuesday, Wednesdays and Thursdays.

This post is suitable for doctors who have almost completed their training in interventional cardiology and are seeking additional experience in applied clinical research prior to obtaining a consultant appointment.
Active participation in clinical studies is an integral part of the post, which will also involve training in intracoronary imaging and physiology. It is not an approved training post. It is not a suitable post for candidates with limited experience of coronary intervention or candidates who are not committed to a long-term career in applied academic cardiology.
