Job Title: Principal Power Systems Electrical Engineer
Location: Barrow-In-Furness & Filton / Hybrid (2 days a fortnight onsite at Barrow; 1 day a week onsite at Filton) depending on business needs

What you’ll be doing: Conducting load flow, short circuit, and stability analysis of an electrical power system
Management and analysis of the electrical load budget
Developing and validating electrical models
Collaborating with multi-discipline teams, suppliers and stakeholders on matters related to the power system
Preparing technical reports, calculations, and presentations communicating results and advising recommendations
Developing and mentoring other team members
Your skills and experiences: Degree qualified or equivalent experience in electrical engineering
Chartered Engineer or working towards chartership
Knowledge of high power and medium voltage power systems and distributions
Extensive experience in Power Systems Modelling
Experience conducting electrical load budget and load flow analysis
An understanding in power system analysis software tools (e.g., ETAP, Simulink/Simscape, MATLAB)

What you'll do:
Are you a skilled and safety-conscious electrical engineer with a passion for medium voltage (MV) systems? Eaton is seeking a number of EMEA Power Distribution Lead Engineers to join our dynamic team, delivering high-quality installation and maintenance services across EMEA.
In this role, you'll be the face of Eaton for our customers leading installation projects and oversee 3rd party providers , supporting fellow engineers, and ensuring our MV equipment operates at peak performance. RINA is looking for a highly experienced Power Systems Expert to lead the design and execution of complex programmes for large power and electricity corporations. This position is multi-faceted across technical delivery, business development and project management, all within the high voltage substation domain. You will have end to end project delivery accountability to the client, and will lead a specialist team of Power Systems Project Engineers.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead conceptual and detailed design activities for primary and secondary systems of high voltage transmission and distribution substations;
- Lead preparation of technical specifications for high voltage components as well as protection and control facilities;
- As project manager and design authority, ensure that adequate quality assurance is followed as per agreed requirements;
- Lead, mentor, and train junior resources to foster technical excellence and knowledge sharing;
- Proactively build positive relationship with internal and external stakeholders to maintain and develop business opportunities;
- Represent RINA at relevant internal and external events, workshops, working groups, conferences, and forums;

- Provide technical support, support commissioning and through life in-service support.

We Are Looking For a Professional Engineer Who
- Has applicable, transferrable equipment or systems level knowledge & experience, with ideally industrial, marine or naval defence domain experience.
- Candidates with demonstrated expertise in one or more of the following areas—Power System modelling, generator excitation systems, Power Electronics, Machines and Drives (PEMD) are encouraged to apply.
- Can work initiatively on challenges, problem solving, ambitious, highly motivated and driven to succeed with a lean mindset.
- Has working knowledge of marine classification society, IEC, MIL or DEF standards.
