We are working with one of the world’s most prominent providers of smart logistics solutions. Our client is responsible for 10% of the world’s logistical movement across the globe. In their bid to grow further still, our client is searching for an experienced Manager Government Relations & Public Affairs UK to create key strategies and systems for interpreting and disseminating key ideas and issues from UK politics to ensure better business decision-making. As Manager Government Relations & Public Affairs UK you will report into the VP of External Affairs and identify key policy/political issues and events that will require appropriate strategies and plans for response.
Key responsibilities:
- To advise on key political issues and provide guidance and critical insight into the political processes, personalities within government and civil society across the UK – provide up-to-date information on policy, country and stakeholder analysis to create credible strategies
- Manage key relationships with UK government stakeholders and identify business threats and opportunities due to statutory and legislative government action and provide support to business leaders and the wider UK & EU team in their engagement with stakeholders
- Create and put in place advocacy plans including the setting out of desired policy outcomes and engagement programmes in alignment with the functions and in-country resources
- Maintain absolute compliance with the relevant government ABC, transparency and ethical requirements and keep abreast of UK government policies, finance, tax and regulatory developments that impact the business
- Provide leverage upon the formal workings of government to support the desired outcomes of the company and their wider business objectives
- Development of local resources and share Government Relations and Public Affairs best practices with business members whilst ensuring coordination GR & PA
Key requirements:
- At least 10 years’ experience within UK government and diplomatic or Regulatory and Government/Public Affairs in strategic, analytical or business setting
- Deep understanding of UK government with substantial networks across the UK government within Westminster and Whitehall with considerable experience in UK regulatory frameworks and processes a requirement
- Ability to work to tight deadlines and work effectively across a wide range of internal and external stakeholders with ability to multi-task in highly fluid situations
- Strong influence and motivational skillset with some experience of Issues and Crisis Management
- Exceptional analyst with knowledge of governance and business control frameworks with ability to work effectively in cross cultural and diverse stakeholder environments

- Under the direction of the Executive Director of Global Public Relations, this person will have responsibility for developing and implementing a robust media strategy for the firm's Digital Assets and Consulting Services businesses aligned to business goals and objectives.
- In doing so, the Associate Director, Public Relations will promote our news, information and thought leadership to the media and analyst community, proactively build and maintain relationships with editors, journalists and analysts, influence news coverage, shape perceptions of the firm and protect against reputational risk.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Overall responsibility to strategize, develop and implement global public relations strategy for the Digital Assets and Consulting Services businesses and their related thought leadership areas, generating awareness and coverage via proactive pitching, interviews, bylines, media tours, statements, roundtables, editor briefings and more.
- Collaborate with M&C peers to ensure a holistic M&C strategy and reporting, with defined goals, objectives and metrics.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum of 8 years of related experience
- Bachelor's degree in Communications preferred or equivalent experience
- Solid understanding of all communications channels,
- Strong verbal and writing capabilities, with the ability to translate complex business topics into higher level themes that will resonate with journalists and readers; Leverage compelling storytelling and data-driven content
- Ability to network and influence colleagues on PR recommendations and strategies
- Background in crypto / digital assets / blockchain is preferred.
- Solid analytical capabilities, to measure results and identify areas of opportunity
- Excellent organizational and time management skills, in order to effectively prioritize a number of simultaneous projects while meeting sometimes short deadlines

About the role
We are looking for a skilled and proactive Media Relations Manager to step into a high-impact, fast-moving in-house role on our dynamic Corporate Affairs and Communications team. You will be responsible for protecting, shaping and promoting the company’s reputation, through proactive and reactive media engagement. You will engage and liaise with Reckitt’s brands, agencies, and corporate communications colleagues to help develop, pitch and secure earned media stories that communicate the company’s narrative to external audiences and amplify Reckitt’s corporate reputation.
Whether you’re currently in-house or at a top-tier communications agency, you’ll bring a strong understanding of media strategy, reputation management and stakeholder engagement. Reporting to the Global Media Relations Director, you will work closely with leaders and cross-functional teams to craft and tell compelling stories, support day-to-day media engagement, manage reputational issues and contribute to strategic campaigns that build understanding and confidence in Reckitt as a world-class consumer health and hygiene company.

Your responsibilities
- Develop and execute proactive media strategies that align with corporate priorities and promote the company’s corporate reputation, brands, innovation, and business performance.
- Act as a day-to-day press contact, managing corporate media inquiries with accuracy, speed and strategic judgement.
- Draft and edit media materials, including press releases, statements, Q&As, briefing documents and op-eds.
- Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with key journalists and media outlets across business, consumer, lifestyle, trade and digital channels.
- Support financial communications activities, including media engagement around earnings announcements and other financial calendar events. Translate complex financial data into accessible, accurate messaging for external audiences.
- Monitor traditional and social media coverage, flagging issues impacting the company and industry, providing regular insights and analysis to internal stakeholders.
- Support crisis communications and issues management as needed, working with crisis management team, legal and senior leaders.
- Partner with internal stakeholders including Investor Relations, Legal, Human Resources, Brands, Sustainability and Supply to identify positive stories, gather information and align messaging.
- Assist in preparing senior executives for media interviews, including briefing documents and message training.
- Help generate and populate editorial calendar to ensure an ongoing drumbeat of stories.
The experience we're looking for
- Approximately 5-7 years’ experience in media relations, public relations, or corporate communications, ideally within or supporting FTSE100/Fortune500 businesses.
- Strong grasp of UK and international media landscapes with a network of media contacts.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a sharp news sense and strong attention to detail.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects and respond quickly in high-pressure situations.
- Digitally native mindset with fluency in online tools and platforms – including AI-powered solutions – to enhance efficiency, insight generation and media engagement.
- Ability to collaborate effectively across functions and influence internal stakeholders.
- Commercial awareness and understanding of reputational drivers in the consumer goods/FMCG sectors.

About the role
The Grantham Institute is Imperial College London's hub for climate change and the environment, established to promote interdisciplinary working and to meet some of the greatest challenges faced by society.
The Media Relations Manager will be an integral part of the Grantham Institute Communications team. In addition to providing communications support to Grantham Institute researchers and leading on media relations for Grantham outputs, a major focus of this role will be to provide a spectrum of communications support for the World Weather Attribution (WWA) project, an exciting, high-profile initiative led by Dr Fredi Otto. The project was founded to provide rapid and robust assessments on the role of climate change in the aftermath of extreme weather events. Its aim is to provide timely scientific evidence to better understand how climate change impacts weather today, how we deal with weather events now and plan better for the future.
You will be responsible for developing and delivering a variety of communications activities for the project and other related initiatives at the Grantham Institute, such as the Climate Damage Tracker, through media relations, social media and other digital projects. You will monitor and evaluate outcomes of communications, identifying areas of development and success and responding to improve performance, and build WWA's reputation.

- Provide high-quality press materials for WWA attribution studies and Grantham research, including organising and hosting press briefings, responding to media requests, using social media, providing graphics
