The Role
An opportunity has arisen for an Assembly Production Operator to join the Whittlesey Team at Smurfit Westrock. A world leader in paper based packaging and European leader in containerboard, solid board, corrugated packaging. Reporting to the Assembly Team Leader this role will be responsible for all aspects of maintaining compliance within the assembly areas, including manufacturing, quality, health, safety, and environmental and housekeeping requirements.
The successful candidates will participate in efforts to drive forward and improve all operational aspects of the Whittlesey business. Ensure all products are produced and delivered to the correct specification in full, and on time, in accordance with the production plan and to meet our customer’s requirements.
Key responsibilities:
- Operate in all assembly areas in line with its technical requirements and related best practices methods to secure its optimal utilisation and quality. li>Continuously focus on the quality of the manufactured finished goods through the monitoring and reporting on any discrepancies encountered.
- Follow the established quality control policies and procedures in terms of production flow and work organisation.
- Fulfil all the requirements in relation to the production and quality reporting.
- Support Team Leader on machine maintenance/cleaning best practice
- Ensure signing off all the required Safe Working Systems before commencing any specific operation or task.
- Follow all Healthy and Safety regulations for the specific workstation as well as the general company requirements and report on any hazardous discrepancies
- Promote a climate of continuous improvement and employee motivation and involvement at all levels.
- Previous assembly/production/manufacturing knowledge and experience is desirable, though not essential.

Monday – Thursday
