Full Job Description

Primark is looking for dedicated Warehouse Operatives to join our distribution centre team in Southampton.

Responsibilities:
  • Receive, check, and unload incoming goods.
  • Pick and pack orders accurately and efficiently.
  • Prepare goods for dispatch, including labeling and wrapping.
  • Load outgoing vehicles according to schedules.
  • Operate warehouse equipment such as pallet trucks and potentially forklifts (if certified).
  • Perform stock counts and inventory checks.
  • Ensure the warehouse is kept clean, tidy, and organized.
  • Adhere to health and safety regulations at all times.
  • Report any damaged goods or discrepancies.
  • Use warehouse management systems (WMS) to track inventory and orders.
  • Work effectively as part of a team.
  • Meet productivity and accuracy targets.
  • Assist with returns processing.
  • Maintain equipment in good working order.
  • Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Participate in training sessions.
  • Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives in the warehouse.
  • Ensure safe handling of all goods.
  • Work in different areas of the warehouse as required.
  • Prepare necessary documentation for shipments.
  • Handle goods manually or with equipment.
  • Ensure timely processing of orders.
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues and supervisors.
  • Contribute to a positive and safe working environment.
  • Identify and report potential hazards.
  • Assist with general warehouse duties.
  • Ensure all items are stored in designated locations.
  • Support efforts to reduce waste in the warehouse.
  • Adhere to company policies and procedures.
  • Work efficiently to meet dispatch deadlines.
  • Check goods for quality issues.
  • Maintain accurate records of goods received and dispatched.
  • Assist with loading and unloading containers.

Qualifications:
  • Previous warehouse or logistics experience is preferred.
  • Ability to lift and move heavy items.
  • Basic numeracy and literacy skills.
  • Ability to work efficiently and accurately in a fast-paced environment.
  • Understanding of health and safety procedures in a warehouse setting.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including shifts, evenings, and weekends.
  • Forklift license (e.g., counterbalance, reach) is a plus.
  • Familiarity with WMS is beneficial.
  • Attention to detail.
