Full Job Description

Kier Group is seeking a dedicated Project Manager to lead infrastructure projects in the Newcastle upon Tyne area. You will be responsible for the successful delivery of civil engineering or infrastructure schemes from conception through to completion, ensuring they are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards. This is a demanding role requiring strong project management skills and technical understanding.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and manage infrastructure projects, including scope, schedule, budget, and resources.
  • Develop detailed project execution plans.
  • Manage project teams, including site staff, engineers, and subcontractors.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental, and quality standards on site.
  • Monitor project progress and report to senior management and clients.
  • Identify and manage project risks and issues.
  • Manage project budget and financial performance.
  • Liaise with clients, stakeholders, and regulatory bodies.
  • Ensure projects are delivered according to contractual requirements.
  • Oversee procurement of materials and services.
  • Manage changes to project scope.
  • Conduct project review meetings.
  • Ensure accurate project documentation is maintained.
  • Implement and enforce site security measures.
  • Hand over completed projects to clients or operations teams.
  • Foster a positive and collaborative working environment.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Proven experience as a Project Manager on infrastructure projects (e.g., highways, bridges, utilities, rail).
  • Project management certification (e.g., PRINCE2, PMP) is highly desirable.
  • SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme) certification is often required.
  • Strong understanding of construction methods and processes.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to manage and motivate a team.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Experience managing project budgets and financial reporting.
  • Knowledge of relevant UK construction regulations and standards.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple tasks.
  • Proficiency in project management software (e.g., Microsoft Project, Primavera).
  • Risk management experience.
  • Valid UK driving license.
  • Experience in managing contractual aspects of projects.
  • Understanding of health and safety legislation in construction.
