Full Job Description

Whitbread is seeking an experienced Restaurant Manager to lead our Beefeater restaurant in Bristol. You will be responsible for the overall operation of the restaurant, ensuring exceptional customer experiences, managing the team, and driving financial performance.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee all aspects of daily restaurant operations, including front-of-house and back-of-house.
  • Lead, motivate, and develop the restaurant team, including chefs, servers, and support staff.
  • Ensure high standards of food quality, presentation, and service.
  • Manage customer satisfaction and handle escalated guest complaints.
  • Manage the restaurant budget, control costs, and maximize revenue.
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve profitability and operational efficiency.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and implement actions to achieve targets.
  • Ensure compliance with food safety, health, safety, and licensing regulations.
  • Manage staffing levels, scheduling, and payroll for restaurant staff.
  • Oversee inventory management for food, beverages, and supplies.
  • Implement and maintain brand standards across all aspects of the restaurant operation.
  • Work closely with the kitchen team to ensure smooth operations.
  • Prepare reports on restaurant performance for senior management.
  • Handle administrative tasks related to restaurant management.
  • Conduct regular inspections of the restaurant to ensure quality and cleanliness standards are met.
  • Manage relationships with suppliers.
  • Foster a positive and supportive work environment for all team members.
  • Implement training programs for staff development.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and competitor activities.

Qualifications:
  • Proven experience (typically 3+ years) in restaurant management.
  • Strong leadership and people management skills.
  • Excellent understanding of restaurant operations, including front-of-house and kitchen dynamics.
  • Ability to manage budgets and drive financial performance.
  • Strong customer service and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of food safety and hygiene regulations (e.g., HACCP).
  • Proficiency in restaurant management software systems (e.g., POS) is an asset.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Experience with stock management and ordering.
  • Bachelor's degree in Hospitality or Restaurant Management is a plus.
