The Role:
JD Wetherspoon is seeking friendly and efficient Bar Staff / Server to join our team at a pub location in London, England. You will be responsible for serving customers at the bar, taking food and drink orders, delivering food and drinks to tables, and ensuring the pub is clean and tidy. This role requires excellent customer service skills, the ability to work quickly and accurately in a busy environment, and a positive attitude. You will be a key part of the team delivering a great experience for our customers.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Serve customers promptly and courteously at the bar.
  • Take food and drink orders accurately.
  • Prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks.
  • Deliver food and drinks to tables efficiently.
  • Handle cash and card payments using the till system.
  • Ensure compliance with licensing laws, including age verification.
  • Maintain a clean and tidy bar and seating area.
  • Collect glasses and clear tables.
  • Wash glassware and ensure hygiene standards are met.
  • Restock bar supplies (bottles, glasses, etc.).
  • Maintain a friendly and welcoming attitude towards customers.
  • Work effectively as part of a team.
  • Follow company procedures and standards.
  • Handle customer queries and minor complaints.
  • Report any issues or incidents to the supervisor or manager.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Assist with opening and closing duties.
  • Learn the menu and product offerings.
  • Ensure proper storage of stock.
  • Maintain a positive work environment.
  • Assist with basic food preparation tasks if required.
  • Ensure accurate till reconciliation at the end of a shift.
  • Handle waste disposal correctly.
  • Follow responsible alcohol service guidelines.
  • Ensure all areas are presentable.
  • Help with deliveries and stock rotation.
  • Attend team briefings and training sessions.
  • Ensure compliance with food safety standards in service areas.
  • Manage queue systems at the bar efficiently.
  • Provide support to new team members.
  • Handle customer feedback positively.
  • Ensure adherence to uniform policy.
  • Maintain personal hygiene standards.
  • Be knowledgeable about promotions.
  • Assist with setting up for events if applicable.

Qualifications:
  • Previous experience in a bar, restaurant, or hospitality environment is desirable but not always essential, as training is provided.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Ability to work quickly and efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to handle cash and use a till system.
  • Knowledge of basic drink preparation is a plus.
  • Understanding of licensing laws and age verification.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work well as part of a team.
  • Reliable and punctual.
  • Ability to stand for long periods.
  • Ability to lift and carry trays and stock.
