We are seeking an experienced Legal Counsel to join our team in Southampton.
As a Legal Counsel at Deloitte, you will provide expert legal advice to both internal stakeholders and external clients on a wide range of legal matters. You will be involved in drafting and negotiating contracts, advising on regulatory compliance, managing legal risks, and contributing to the development of legal strategies within the firm.

As a Legal Counsel at Deloitte, you will provide expert legal advice to both internal stakeholders and external clients on a wide range of legal matters. You will be involved in drafting and negotiating contracts, advising on regulatory compliance, managing legal risks, and contributing to the development of legal strategies within the firm.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide timely and accurate legal advice to Deloitte's service lines and support functions on various legal issues.
- Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of commercial contracts, including client service agreements, supplier contracts, and partnership agreements.
- Advise on compliance with relevant laws and regulations (e.g., data protection, competition law, professional standards).
- Identify and assess legal risks associated with business activities and provide recommendations for mitigation.
- Support litigation and dispute resolution processes as required.
- Develop and deliver training on legal and compliance topics to internal staff.
- Assist in the development and implementation of internal policies and procedures.
- Keep abreast of changes in legislation and regulatory requirements that may impact the firm or its clients.
- Manage relationships with external legal counsel when necessary.
- Conduct legal research and provide legal opinions on specific matters.
- Collaborate with legal teams in other Deloitte member firms on multi-jurisdictional issues.
- Contribute to the development of legal know-how and standard documentation.
- Advise on corporate governance matters.
Qualifications:
- Qualified Solicitor or Barrister in England & Wales, or equivalent qualification in another relevant jurisdiction.
- 3-6 years of post-qualification experience (PQE) in a relevant legal field, ideally gained in a reputable law firm or in-house legal department.
- Solid understanding of general commercial law.
- Experience in drafting and negotiating commercial contracts.
- Knowledge of data protection law (e.g., GDPR) is highly desirable.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to explain complex legal concepts clearly to non-legal audiences.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work under pressure.
- High level of professional integrity.
Desired Skills:
- Experience in financial services regulation or professional services.
- Experience advising on technology law, intellectual property, or competition law.
- Experience with dispute resolution.
