Job Summary:
We are seeking a motivated and aspiring Assistant Pub Manager to join one of our busy pubs in Glasgow. The Assistant Pub Manager will work closely with the Pub Manager, supporting the daily operations, managing shifts, leading the team, and ensuring high standards of customer service, quality, and cleanliness are maintained. This role is a key step towards becoming a Pub Manager, requiring strong leadership potential, operational skills, and a commitment to delivering the Wetherspoon experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the Pub Manager in overseeing all aspects of the pub's daily operations.
- Manage shifts, ensuring smooth running of service, efficient staff allocation, and adherence to procedures.
- Lead, train, and motivate the bar and floor staff during shifts.
- Ensure high standards of customer service are delivered consistently.
- Oversee food and drink service, ensuring quality and presentation standards are met.
- Handle customer queries and resolve issues or complaints professionally and efficiently.
- Assist with stock management, including ordering, deliveries, and stock takes.
- Ensure compliance with licensing laws, health and safety regulations, and food hygiene standards.
- Manage cash handling procedures and till operations.
- Conduct regular checks on cleanliness and hygiene standards throughout the pub.
- Assist with staff scheduling and rotas.
- Support the training and development of team members.
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and service.
- Step up to manage the pub in the absence of the Pub Manager.
- Conduct opening and closing procedures for the pub.
- Ensure security procedures are followed during shifts.
- Monitor and manage inventory levels of key products.
- Contribute to creating a positive and teamwork-oriented atmosphere.
- Adhere to all company policies and procedures.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in a supervisory or management role within a pub, bar, or restaurant environment.
- Understanding of pub operations, including bar service, food service, and cellar management.
- Knowledge of licensing laws, health and safety regulations, and food hygiene standards. Personal Licence Holder or willingness to obtain one is often required.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Good problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Customer-focused attitude.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Experience with EPOS systems is beneficial.
- Ability to handle cash and manage till operations accurately.
- A genuine passion for the hospitality industry.
